District Bulletin 16 – AIR CANADA – TMOS OFF-DUTY STATUS GRIEVANCE UPDATE

Your Union filed a grievance challenging the employer’s misuse of Article 20.14 and that grievance was upheld at Arbitration in late 2021. Subsequently, Air Canada brought that decision for Judicial Review. In September 2022, the review panel dismissed the company’s application and costs were awarded to the Union.
Since that time District Lodge 140 has followed up with the company ad nauseam. The list of affected Members has been vetted and we have been advised sent to Payroll for processing. Read Bulletin here…

District Bulletin 14 – AIR CANADA – TMOS CATEGORY 38 UPDATE

As a follow-up to Bulletin No. 33 dated September 2022. The matter was brought back in front of the arbitrator on May 24, 2023. Unfortunately, we were unable to resolve this case at this hearing and are now booking an additional date later this fall.
We understand the frustration and concerns of the affected members and the Union continues push for a resolution in the near future. However, we are aware that cases of this magnitude can be very lengthy. Read Bulletin here…

District Bulletin 13 – DISTRICT 140 IAM COMMITTEE ON THE FUTURE

Last year a resolution was passed by the delegation at the 40th IAM Grand Lodge Convention to create a Committee on the Future. The group was established to listen to IAM members throughout the Canada and the United States to propose new ideas on how to grow the union and develop the next generation of leaders and activists. District Bulletin 12 – WESTJET STRIKE NOTICE

The IAM is closely monitoring the situation between the Air Line Pilots Association (ALPA) and WestJet Airlines for a potential impact to our members that service WestJet.
The General Chairpersons at the IAM have reached out to those employers to discuss what the next steps will be in the event that the pilots at WestJet exercise their right to strike. Those details have yet to be finalized.  Read Bulletin here…

District Bulletin 11 – AIR CANADA NATIONAL VACCINE POLICY GRIEVANCE ARBITRATION AWARD

Further to Bulletin No. 039, dated November 2, 2022, your Union, led by our legal counsel, have concluded a multiple-date hearing on this matter. On May 11, 2023, Arbitrator Vince Ready rendered his decision regarding our National Policy grievance.

As most of you know, your Disability Program (ILIP) pays a Short and Long-Term disability benefit when you’re unable to continue working due to disability. The Plan continues to support you and your family financially on your path to recovery.
The primary fiduciary responsibility of your Trustees is to ensure the long term viability of the plan on an ongoing basis. During the past two years the ILIP Plan has experienced a significant increase in utilization. In response to the April 13, 2023 bulletin advising of the recent vacancy for this position, Local Lodge 764 has received one (1) application. I would like to inform our members that Brother James Ainscow has graciously volunteered to put his name forward for this position. LOCAL LODGE 764 VACANCY NOTICE TECHNICAL OPERATIONS, LOGISTICS & SUPPLY REPRESENTATIVE AIR CANADA NATIONAL NEGOTIATIONS COMMITTEE

The Local Lodge 764 Executive Board has been ordered by the International President to suspend our current Technical Operations, Logistics and Supply representative from his position on the Air Canada National Negotiations Committee.

As a consequence of this action, all LL764 members who work for Air Canada Technical Operations, Logistics and Supply in all of the categories enumerated in Articles 4.02, 4.03, 8.02 and 8.03 of the TMOS collective agreement have no representation on the Air Canada National Negotiations Committee.
