DISTRICT LODGE 140 EXECUTIVE BOARD ELECTIONS
Executive Board Elections will be held at our upcoming DL140 Convention being held in Halifax, Nova Scotia on Tuesday and Wednesday, October 23 and 24, 2018.
There are to be nine (9) Board Members to be elected – one (1) from “Air Transport”, one (1) from “Service” and one (1) “At-Large”, from each of the three (3) Regions. The Western Region includes British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba. The Central Region includes Ontario. The Eastern Region includes Quebec and the Atlantic Provinces.

BCGEU members at Hard Rock Casino in Coquitlam are going on strike Friday May 11 at 8:45am, to fight for fair wages and working conditions. They will be holding a big kick off rally at 1:30pm Friday at 1073 Hartley Avenue in Coquitlam to show their Employer, Great Canadian Casinos (GCC), that all workers deserve to be paid fairly. Air Canada charged with Health & Safety Violations in death of IAM Member
Toronto, On – Federal officials have charged Air Canada with a series of health and safety violations in the death of IAM Local Lodge 2323 member Ian Henrey Pervez.
Pervez was killed on April 22, 2016 on the tarmac at Toronto’s Pearson International Airport when the baggage-cart tractor he was driving flipped over, throwing him from the vehicle. Federal officials allege five health and safety violations of Part II of the Canada Labour Code, by the airline contributed to the death of Pervez. Read the Dispatch here…
Airport privatization on hold in the wake of Machinists petition!
Ottawa, ON – On Tuesday April 17th, the IAM petition opposing airport privatization is presented in the House of Commons, then on Friday April 20th, Transport Minister Marc Garneau announces the government will not proceed with airport privatization at this time.
