  • BOSNJAK Josip February 27th, 1932 - April 24th, 2009 It is with great sadness we announce the sudden death of our beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, husband and dear friend Josip Bosnjak. Josip was born in Podravska Moslavina, in what is now Croatia. At the age of 23, he immigrated to Canada. As a new Canadian, his first job was in the Keno Silver Mine in the Yukon Territories. While there, he embarked on a long distance love letter campaign, which eventually led to a marriage with his loving wife in 1962, when Zorka (nee Jakovcic) decided herself to join Josip in Canada by way of Croatia. The two settled in Vancouver, then New Westminster in 1969. Josip ended his working career at Canadian Airlines. He enjoyed travelling each summer to Omis, Croatia where he kept a summer home on the Adriatic. He would spontaneously start playing his harmonica at social gatherings and family get-togethers, which always made us feel happy. He will be remembered for his wonderful sense of humour, and love of political and world affairs, which left him never short of an opinion on something. Josip's main passion was his family who he loved dearly. Now as he rests, he will watch over his family who are better people for having him in their lives. Josip will be sadly missed by his wife Zorka; his sons Boris and Emil (Heather); and his daughter Nada. He is also survived by six grandchildren: Sanja, Natasha, Tiana, Mercutio, Adriana and Horatio; and one great-grandchild Martin. • TURIN _ John B. June 12, 1945 - November 4, 2006 John Turin, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend peacefully passed away at his home in Aldergrove, BC in comfort, with his loving wife by his side. Born in Salmon Arm, BC, John moved to Vancouver at age 10 with his father, President of Canadian Forest Products Ltd. After his father's sudden passing, John was raised by his Granny. He grew up in Vancouver's Dunbar/ Kerrisdale neighbourhoods, and he attended Athlone and Magee High schools. He worked part-time as a waiter for CP Rail to pay for his studies in Commerce at UBC, but his passion for trains led him to a full-time position with the railway for 8 years. In May 1967, John married Elizabeth (nee Haslett), and together they had two children, Jeffrey Brian and Jennifer Elan. He continued his career with Canadian Pacific, switching gears from railroad tracks to runway lights. His dedication to his work, and his loyalty to his friends and colleagues left a lasting legacy after a 30-year career with CP Air (Canadian, and subsequently retired with Air Canada). In 1997 John moved to Aldergrove and began a new life with his current wife Kathy, and their son Michael James. Together, they had Samantha Alexandra in 1999. John was devoted to his family, and spent many happy times camping and traveling the world via planes, trains, and automobiles...then he discovered boats! He was hooked after his first cruise from Vancouver to LA, and continued to take more cruises - enjoying this new perspective. John was a caring, supportive father, always involved with his children's activities. He'd bring lucky pennies to gymnastics competitions, coach baseball teams, and cheer the loudest at soccer games. John's memory lives on with his wife Kathy, first wife Elizabeth, son Jeffrey (Nichole), grandson Jaxon, daughter Jennifer (Steve), son Michael, daughter Samantha, brother Phil, cousin George Hrennikoff (Margaret), and mother-in-law Elan. He was predeceased by his parents, Boris and Dorothy, his Aunt Alexandra, and his "best bud" Graeme Stamp. Please join us for a "Celebration of Life" open house to honour and remember John Turin, on Saturday, November 25th, 2006, at 1:00 pm, at 25129 30th Avenue, Aldergrove, BC.
