As you will recall, the various shift bid related grievances were upheld at arbitration in December 2020. As part of her award, Arbitrator Schmidt referred the issue of remedy back to the parties while remaining seized of the matter.

District Bulletin 54 – IAMAW MEMBERS HOLIDAY OFFICE CLOSURES

This Bulletin is to advise there will be no Administrative Staff in the District Lodge offices in Montréal, Toronto or Vancouver between Monday, December 20, 2021 and Friday, December 31, 2021. Staff will be returning to the offices on Monday, January 3, 2022.

2009 Air Canada Share Trust Agreement History and 2021 Repurposing Agreement

This communication is intended to provide our members with a more detailed explanation and a better understanding of both the 2009 Share Trust Agreement and the November 2021 Share Trust Repurposing Agreement.

These agreements are narrowly focused and while they will provide a benefit for most of our active members and all of our pensioners, they will not provide a benefit for all of our active members. In 2009, all IAMAW members employed by Air Canada were members of the Defined Benefit pension plan. The original 2009 Share Trust Agreement provided additional funding security to all of Air Canada’s Defined Benefit pension plans, and by extension, to all IAMAW active members and pensioners at that time. IAMAW – UNION DUES AND PER CAPITA TAX

The amount of Union Dues paid by each individual in the Machinist Union is determined by the Membership at a democratic forum. At the
International (Grand Lodge) level, the per capita tax is established by the Delegates to the Grand Lodge Convention every four years. Read Bulletin here…

District Bulletin 51 – AIR CANADA TMOS RETIRE “REHIRE”

Further to District Lodge 140 bulletin number 48 issued on October 25th, your Union has learned that Air Canada is moving ahead with their intention to “rehire” retirees in the Airports/Cargo category. It is the Districts’ understanding that the Company re-commenced contacting retirees as recently as Friday November 5th, despite your Union’s on-going objection to their plan. Read Bulletin here…

District Bulletin 48 – AIR CANADA TMOS RETIRE “REHIRE”

Air Canada approached the Committee of General Chairpersons and sought the Union’s agreement to rehire recent retirees for term (temporary) employment for a period not to exceed 6 months.

District Bulletin 40 – AIR CANADA TMOS PENSION CAP RETROACTIVITY

Arbitrator Vince Ready has ruled in favour of the Union and ordered the pension cap increase retroactive to the effective date of the Collective Agreement, April 1, 2019.

Details regarding the process and timelines for members who wish to make retroactive contributions on their eligible pensionable earnings will be communicated as they become available. Those Members who previously elected to retire under the Early Retirement Incentive Program (ERIP) are eligible for buyback, if they so choose. Read Bulletin here…

Those of you affected by periods of ODS in 2021 should be aware that you have the opportunity to buy back that unaccumulated pensionable service. To apply for the buyback, you are required to contact HR Connex within 90 days after returning to work from ODS. This was previously communicated in a Company
